For a special interactive episode of DreamWorks’ The Adventures of Puss In Boots, I was asked to create 18 ‘choicepoint’ animations. Here are seven of them.

This was an especially fun project to work on. Normally, the 2D segments for Puss are created as ‘living’ illustrations with limited animation by design, but for this episode, the director wanted Puss to be more animated. When I got this assignment, I was not provided a storyboard, only the voice tracks, and the studio trusted me to come up with something fun and appealing. DreamWorks Animation is such a cool place to work!

You can play this episode through the Netflix app but, if you want the full interactive experience, you’ll need to watch it on an iPad or iPhone. (Sorry, Apple TV has the shorter non-interactive version.) I’m not sure about Android yet but it probably works there too.

Puss and the book illustrations were animated using Moho Pro and composited in After Effects.
